Why the Future Belongs to AI Orchestrators

When I was a kid, the “serious” adults told my friends that thousands of hours in StarCraft and Age of Empires were a waste of time. They were wrong. Those kids were training for the real job of the 2030s: commanding swarms of AI agents under pressure.
The fortunes will be made by the people who decide where the trains go.
The substrate is AI orchestration: coordinating dozens of AI agents in parallel, allocating compute, routing decisions between humans and machines in real time.
Not typing prompts but running live operations. A product called AgentCraft just launched an actual real-time strategy game interface for commanding AI agents. Notion’s CEO Ivan Zhao said it publicly: “Building AI enterprise software in 2025 feels like building a video game.”
He’s not being cute. He’s being literal. What used to be a hobby is about to show up on the P&L. The same instincts that won ladder matches are exactly what you need to run AI-powered organizations: see the whole map, prioritize fronts, and redirect resources in real time.
That neural wiring maps almost perfectly onto multi-agent AI control.
But (and this is critical) the game analogy breaks in one important place. StarCraft gives you perfect information and clean rules. But AI agents hallucinate, drift and produce confident nonsense. The real unlock is judgment under uncertainty. Knowing when to trust an agent, when to intervene, when to kill an entire line of effort.
That’s the human premium
The companies dominating this space will building orchestration layers: agents doing real work, with humans deciding where that work runs.
Intelligence is becoming a commodity. Direction is becoming the scarce resource. And that’s the greatest opportunity in a generation.
Until next time,
Ram
