From consuming a frontier model to fully participating at the frontier.

At Build this week, Satya Nadella framed Microsoft's mission as helping every company "move from just consuming a frontier model to fully participating at the frontier."
Microsoft is building the frontier intelligence ecosystem i.e., the full stack a company needs to build, run, and govern AI agents, from the infrastructure to the context to the workplace.
Few key highlights from Build 2026:
• Surface Laptop Ultra with NVIDIA RTX Spark AI chip
• MAI-Thinking-1: Microsoft's first in-house flagship reasoning model
• MAI-Code-1: inference-efficient coding model tuned for GitHub
• New MAI image, voice, and transcription models for Foundry
• Scout: first long-running autonomous "Autopilot" agent
• Project Solara: wearable AI badge plus desktop cube
• Majorana 2 qauntum chip developed with Microsoft Discovery’s agentic AI
• Microsoft IQ context layer: Work IQ, Fabric IQ, Web IQ
• Project Rayfin: managed agent backend-as-a-service on Fabric
Compute, models, context, agents, hardware, even quantum ALL converging in one stack, on one stage, on one day. This is what exponential looks like up close.
So what does this mean for the future of work?
Everything.
Three things worth your attention:
𝟭\ 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗼𝗿 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸.
Agents are only as good as what they know. This is your data, your workflows, your customer truth. Whoever owns the context layer owns the outcome. That's Microsoft's whole bet. It's just as true inside your own company.
𝟮\ 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗲, 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲.
The tools are extraordinary. But people turn them into momentum. Give a curious team great agents and they'll redesign the work faster than any rollout plan ever could.
𝟯\ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴.
Work used to mean opening an app. Now it means handing a task to an agent. Redesign around that and the gains compound.
As Satya notes, we are moving from using AI to participating in it. From renting intelligence to building with it.
That's a new operating model for how work gets done.
We have never had more leverage to build than we do right now. The frontier is the starting line. Until next time, Ram
