Claude Cowork Part Deux
Last week I shared Claude's capabilties in Excel. But can it do slides? Short answer: yes. And it's worth your attention.
I recorded a quick video of Claude in PowerPoint to review recent insights on IBM × Anthropic COBOL update.
You can see Claude in PPT putting it onto a slide and editing it live.
What you'll see is Claude working inside PowerPoint, reading my template suggestions, and building native editable slides. Not static images. Real shapes, real charts, real diagrams you can actually edit.
It doesn't generate a generic AI-looking deck and it works within YOUR template.
There's also a "reviewer" (as with excel) that automatically reviews and provides inputs to Claude (within the session) to edit the slide.
Three workflows worth knowing:
1\ Blank-Deck Builder: Describe what you need, Claude drafts a full deck with structure and professional defaults.
2\ Pinpoint Editor: Select a slide, tell it what to change. It edits surgically while preserving everything around it.
3\ Bullet-to-Visual Converter: Feed it bullet points, get back diagrams and process flows you can edit natively.
It's still beta. Chat history doesn't persist between sessions. Some advanced features aren't fully there yet. The limitations are REAL but they're shifting, quickly .
The pattern is unmistakable. Anthropic is on a mission to embedd intelligence directly into the tools where work already happens: Excel, PowerPoint, your file system.
Same three things I said about Claude in Excel apply here:
1\ The PACE alone should make you curious.
2\ What it can't do today, it might do next quarter. Stay close.
3\ Audit the work. Build the muscle of knowing when to trust, when to question, when to override.
Leverage AI, augment your thinking with it. Use it to build the intuition.
